Day 2 - 4: Anuradhapura
One of Sri Lanka’s ancient cities, Anuradhapura is well known for its ancient palaces and temples. Take time to see these ancient buildings and also wander through some of their massive Buddhist sculptures and beautiful grounds. I would definitely recommend visiting Mihin Tale. Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

Stopover: Kaudulla National Park
Kaudulla National Park is a safari and nature reserve in Southern, Central Province, Sri Lanka. It was established in 1954 and occupies an area of 8.9 square kilometres (3.5 sq mi). The park is known for its variety of animals including one-horned rhinoceros, leopards, elephants, gaur and water buffalo. We saw so many elephants here! Absolutely amazing.

Day 4 - Day 5: Sigiriya
Located just north of Dambulla, Sigiriya was constructed as a royal palace during King Kashyapa’s reign. In its early years, it served as a retreat for spiritual enlightenment, but later on became a place where kings resided and displayed their power. Since then it has been mostly abandoned and is now an archeological site open to visitors. Wake up early to watch sunrise from the Lion's rock!

Day 7 - Day 9: Nuwara Eliya
One of my favorite things to do when visiting a new country is travel to a remote, little-known destination. Nuwara Eliya is a lovely little town located high up in Sri Lanka’s central hills. Nuwara Eliya is famous for its beautiful tea plantations.

Day 9 - Day 12: Ella
Next stop Ella! Pack a pair of hiking shoes and head to Ella for an early morning walk on Little Adam’s Peak. This beautiful national park is filled with lush forests, waterfalls, wild monkeys, and breathtaking views over Kandy. Make sure you leave early so you can enjoy breakfast at Little Adam’s Hotel overlooking Ella Rock before your hike. Of course is the Nine Arch Bridge is a must see! Tip: take a cooking class. Food is absolutely amazing in Sri Lanka!
